Overview

A Nuvation Engineering client in the solar power industry needed a mixed-signal control board to operate their DC-AC inverter. The inverter was used on solar farms to generate power for the electrical grid. Nuvation Engineering designed and built the main control board for the inverter.

  • Mixed-signal board, DSP firmware development, and FPGA RTL design
  • Drives multiple 3-phase IGBT matrices via an 18-ch PWM generator
  • Current sensing, acquisition, measurement, conditioning, and DC-AC conversion
  • Up to 1000 V and 1000 A DC inputs, 500kW AC output
  • Communicates with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system over Modbus protocol
  • ADI 6-channel, 12bit ADCs and TI F28335 DSP
  • Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGA watchdog
  • RoHS Compliant
