A client in the video design industry chose Nuvation Engineering to design an image media block for a digital cinema projector. Nuvation Engineering developed the hardware to ingest, decode, watermark and play cinema video, all within a high-security boundary. The design uses FPGA-based video and audio processing, including JPEG2000 decoding, video watermarking, and 3D color enhancement.
Design Features:
- Gigabit Ethernet video ingest and decryption
- Audio DSP (ADI) for audio watermarking
- Xilinx Virtex-6 and Spartan-6 devices
- DDR2, DDR3, PCIe, GigE, eSata, USB2, SGMII, Aurora, and LVDS interfaces
- FPGA-based security monitoring for FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliance
- Integrated Router running embedded Linux
- Microblaze running embedded Linux
- Field upgrade of FPGA bitstreams, DSP firmware, and Embedded Linux firmware (i.e. Linux kernel, and file-system)
